Privacy Policy
Unclouded is a private, on‑device journal — for emotional check‑ins and couples reflection. This policy describes how the app handles information. The short version is that it doesn't handle very much, because almost nothing leaves your device.
The short version
- We do not collect, store, or transmit your personal data.
- Everything you write stays on your device.
- No accounts, no servers, no analytics, no advertising, no third‑party tracking.
What stays on your device
When you use Unclouded, the following information is stored in the app's local storage on your device. None of it is sent to us:
- Emotion check‑ins (date, time, what you were doing, the emotions and notes you logged)
- Weekly emotional audit entries
- Focus / identity reflections
- Couples weekly check‑ins and workshop notes
- Goals — long‑term, weekly, and daily habits — and your progress
- Profile names (Unclouded supports multiple profiles on one device)
- Notification preferences
This data lives in standard local storage inside the app. Uninstalling Unclouded or clearing its app data deletes it.
What you can choose to share
These features only run when you initiate them. The data only goes wherever you choose to send it.
- JSON Backup. You can export a JSON file containing your data and save it wherever you like — Files, iCloud Drive, email, AirDrop. Once it leaves the app, it's yours to manage.
- Readable Report (PDF). You can generate a PDF of your check‑ins and reports and save or share it through the standard iOS share sheet. The PDF is created on your device.
- Importing JSON. You can import a JSON backup back into the app. The file is read locally on your device; nothing is uploaded.
Permissions Unclouded asks for
- Notifications. Used to send you check‑in reminders at the four times of day you've configured (default: 7:30 am, 11:00 am, 3:00 pm, 9:00 pm). All reminders are scheduled and delivered locally by your device. We do not send push notifications from a server, and no information about your check‑ins is included in the reminder text.
Network use
Unclouded works fully offline for everyday use. There is one specific case where the app makes a network request:
- PDF export library. The PDF export feature uses an open‑source library (html2pdf.js). The first time you tap “Save as PDF / Print,” the app downloads this library from a public content delivery network (cdnjs.cloudflare.com). This is a one‑time script download — your journal data is never sent over the network.
Aside from that single case, the app does not communicate with any server.
Third‑party services
Unclouded does not use any third‑party analytics, advertising, attribution, crash reporting, or tracking services.
Children
Unclouded is not directed to children under 13. The content — relationship workshops and emotional reflection — is intended for adults.
A note on care
Unclouded is a tool for personal and relational reflection. It is not a substitute for therapy, counseling, or medical care. If you are in crisis or struggling with your mental health, please reach out to a qualified professional or your local crisis line.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be available at this same URL with an updated effective date. Material changes will be summarized at the top.
